Intrauterine Devices (IUDs)
IUDs are reversible at any time and are easily inserted and removed by a trained midwife. The hormonal IUD contains progestin. The copper IUD does not have hormones. Non-hormonal IUDs can be used continuously for up to 10 years, and hormonal IUDs may be used up to 5 years. Non-hormonal IUDs may increase cramping or bleeding during periods, while hormonal IUDs may decrease bleeding.
