Something magical happens when you go for a check-up. And, even though scientists have never been able to prove just what it is about prenatal care that works, we do know that women who get regular prenatal care have healthier babies.
Surely it has something to do with screening for problems so they can be treated early. Women who go for prenatal care do so because they are willing and able to seek help during this important time. Probably, just knowing that we are going to have to describe our choice in foods, helps keep some of us on the right track when goodies become too tempting.
Besides, how do you measure the health benefits of getting personalized attention, a chance to express your feelings and the opportunity to consider a variety of solutions to common problems?
Bottom line: make an appointment, keep your appointments, and if you don't think you are getting the care you deserve, make an appointment somewhere else.
