What about supplements/vitamins?

If you are someone who takes a lot of different vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements-STOP! They may not be safe to take while pregnant.

Always check with your health care provider first. Folic acid, however, is an exception. Pregnant women should be supplementing with folic acid, especially in the first trimester, [and prior to pregnancy, if possible], says Lynn Moss, MS, RD, nutritionist for PHARMAVITE. And if your prenatal vitamin makes you sick?

There are liquid (and chewable) vitamins available that can make vitamins easier to take, says Moss.

And they taste good, too!
